Michaela L Bowen, MOT, OTR/L

This past summer I moved from Maine to the west coast for the opportunity to work at Kidsense! I grew up in New England and received my B.A. in English, as well as a minor in kinesiology, from the University of New Hampshire in 2007.

After working several years as an administrative assistant at a hospital in Boston, I decided it was time to go back to school to pursue my master’s degree in a career I was more passionate about: occupational therapy. I graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2012 with my master’s degree in occupational therapy.

Prior to working at Kidsense, I completed two level II fieldwork rotations in occupational therapy. One of these rotations was at an acute rehab hospital in NH, and the other at a pediatric clinic outside of Seattle. While studying for my license exam, I also took a temporary position working at a pediatric clinic and developmental preschool based out of Portland, ME.

I have always felt a passion and true connection when working with children. Prior to being an OT, I worked as a nanny and a ski coach for many different families and realized that working with children is so rewarding. It is important to me that therapy sessions are fun, client-centered, and provide the just right challenge to help children succeed.

I am very happy to be living in Hood River. My interests include skiing, running, hiking, yoga, spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, and gardening.
